Class 12 English for Indian students

UCB's India page lists English entry minimums by board: 60% for CBSE, ICSE, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal and Delhi, and 65% for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, with B or 6 points for Cambridge. Punjab and Haryana boards are not on the list, so students from those boards should plan for a test. Academically UCB asks for a 60% average in Class 12 for a bachelor's and a degree with at least 55% for a master's; nursing, physiotherapy and primary education studies have their own requirements.

Foundation diploma, free Duolingo coupons and the visa

The International Foundation Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism needs UKVI IELTS 5.0 with no less than 4.5 in any band. For a limited time UCB offers free Duolingo English Test coupons to students with an undergraduate or postgraduate offer for September 2026 or February 2027 entry who have paid their deposit and still have an outstanding English condition.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCB programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
