Deserts questions with sample answers

1

Have you ever visited a desert?

Yes, I have, actually. A few years ago I went on a holiday to Morocco and spent a night camping in the Sahara. It was mesmerising, particularly watching the sunset over the vast dunes, though it got surprisingly chilly once darkness fell.

2

Do you enjoy watching documentaries about deserts?

Definitely. I find nature documentaries set in arid regions really fascinating, especially seeing how resilient wildlife is. There was one programme about desert foxes that showed their clever survival strategies, which completely blew me away.

3

What do you think would be the most difficult thing about living in a desert?

I suppose the sheer scarcity of water and the extreme climate would be the hardest parts. Dealing with scorching temperatures during the daytime and having to ration every single drop of water would definitely test anyone's limits.

4

Would you like to spend a long holiday in a desert area?

Probably not for a long stretch, to be honest. While I'd love a short weekend trip for stargazing or quad biking, I think the harsh conditions and isolation would become a bit overwhelming after more than three or four days.

5

Are there any deserts in your country?

No, not at all. My country has quite a temperate, rainy climate with lots of lush greenery and rolling hills. The closest thing we have would be coastal sand dunes, but nothing remotely resembling a true desert.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
