Lorries questions with sample answers

1

Do you often see lorries where you live?

Yes, all the time, actually. I live fairly close to an industrial estate and a major motorway junction, so there's a constant stream of heavy goods vehicles rumbling past during the day. It gets particularly noisy early in the morning when deliveries start arriving.

2

Have you ever travelled in a lorry?

No, I haven't, to be honest. The closest I've ever come was riding in a large removal van when my family moved house a few years back. The cab was surprisingly high up, giving a great vantage point, but it was quite a bumpy ride.

3

Did you like playing with toy lorries when you were a child?

I certainly did. I had a whole set of miniature construction vehicles, and my favourite was a bright yellow tipper truck. I used to spend hours in the back garden shifting piles of soil and gravel around with my cousin.

4

Would you like to drive a lorry in the future?

Not really, no. I imagine manoeuvring such a massive vehicle through narrow city streets or tight corners would be terribly stressful. Plus, passing the special driving test to get a heavy vehicle licence sounds really demanding, so I'll stick to my small hatchback.

5

Do you think lorries cause any problems on the roads?

Well, they definitely can, especially during rush hour. Because they take up so much space and accelerate quite slowly, they often hold up traffic on single-lane roads. That said, they're obviously essential for transporting food and supplies around the country.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
