Traditional Hat Felting Sequence

Stages of Traditional Fur Felt Hat Manufacture. Stage 1: Carding loose rabbit fur into uniform batts. Stage 2: Forming conical hood on perforated cone. Stage 3: Hardening fibres with steam and pressure. Stage 4: Fulling and shrinking in acidic hot bath. Stage 5: Blocking over wooden mould to shape crown. Stage 6: Pouncing surface with fine abrasives to finish.
