Exemptions, and the new CSCA test
Applicants whose native language is English do not need a test. For the MBBS and Biomedical Engineering, IB, A Level or other international standardised test results can also exempt you from the English certificate.
From the 2026/27 academic year, all international undergraduate applicants must also submit a China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) report, with English as the exam language for English-taught programmes. The MBBS additionally asks for 70% or more in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at school, and undergraduate applicants must be under 25.

Master's programmes
The master's application guide and its English-taught catalogue ask non-native speakers for an English test result but set no university-wide IELTS figure; check the programme and supervisor. The 2026 deadline for self-funded applicants was 28 February 2026, with 31 May for some majors.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Zhejiang University programme page and in your admission decision, so check it there before you book a test.
