Woodwork questions with sample answers

1

Have you ever made anything out of wood?

Not really, to be honest. The only thing I can remember making was a rather wobbly bird feeder back when I was about ten. It didn't look particularly great, but some sparrows actually used it in our garden, which made me feel quite proud.

2

Do you have a lot of wooden furniture in your home?

Yes, quite a bit, actually. In our dining room, we've got a sturdy oak table that's been passed down through my family. I think natural timber gives a flat a really warm, cosy feel compared to cold metal or glass.

3

Did you learn any woodwork when you were at school?

We did a couple of basic carpentry modules in design and technology classes. I remember learning how to use a handsaw and sandpaper correctly, but we only made simple things like small storage boxes. It was fun getting hands-on, though.

4

Do you prefer wooden items or plastic ones?

Definitely wood. It's much more durable and environmentally friendly, whereas plastic tends to feel cheap and easily breaks. Plus, wooden pieces age really nicely over time, especially kitchen utensils like chopping boards and spoons.

5

Would you like to learn how to make wooden furniture in the future?

I'd love to, if I ever get the free time. It must be so rewarding to craft something functional with your own hands. I'd probably start small, maybe by trying to build a rustic coffee table for my living room.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
